The Austin Busker Project promotes street performance in Austin and is working to rebrand the term “busker”. They provide performance opportunities, mentorships, and raise awareness of street performers as members of the arts community. They hosted the first annual Austin Busker Festival in association with Art City Austin in 2014. Presenting 10 top-notch acts on 2 stages for over 15 thousand people in downtown Austin, the ABP brought Savvy Events on to co-produce the festival and help ensure the artists had the best possible experience in Austin.
From having a “Welcome to Austin” gift basket waiting for the artists upon arrival to marketing consultation and stage management, we helped to ensure this inaugural event was seamless and their Austin debut was a success. We also organized and hosted the festival wrap party for the performers and supporters. After a long weekend, the party provided a more casual atmosphere to relax, refuel with tacos and cocktails, and celebrate achieving a milestone in the Austin busking world. Savvy was honored to be working with such a new and exciting organization that can bring so much opportunity and art to the city we love so much.
“After 5 years of developing a Busker Festival in Lawrence, KS, we decided Austin was the perfect market to expand to. Knowing the work and hurdles we would face, we brought on Savvy Events to help produce the event. They were extremely professional and organized, calling out things we may have forgotten and making sure all bases were covered. The artists agreed they went above and beyond during the event, and were overwhelmed by the Austin hospitality that Savvy brought. We couldn’t be happier with the service they provided, and look forward to a long partnership as we continue to grow in Austin.”
